CONGRATULATIONS TO AMANDA(our oldest daughter) AND WAYNE ON THEIR NEW ADDITION TO THE FAMILY EXPECTED IN FEBRUARY ! ! ! ! !

After conquering Hells Gate and anchoring in the Bronx we left a bumpy anchorage in City Island. We were underway by 7:30 am. We passed barges, debri fields (logs floating etc) and fishing boats... but all in all we were alone on the water today. We didn't see any other cruisers. The weather forecasts are consistently inaccurate and we've grown accustomed to accomadating them. If they tell us 1-2 foot waves we look for 2-4. If they tell us winds N 5-10 knots we hope for that and expect SE 10-to 15. Especially true when water is shallow. There was hardly any land in view so our electronics were relied upon heavily. We motored all day in the gray, cold, raw weather that is home. Oh goody. We are now sitting in fog which is quickly closing in like a familiar blanket. On one hand it is exciting (especially through Brittany's eye's) to get home and back to things that are safe and consistent. On the other hand Gary and I are already talking about our next adventure. As for Gary and I.................we will go home,....... and work........ and plan ............prepare...........make changes.......and save , yes definately SAVE......till we do "it" again. I mentioned at one point today that the blog seemed to be ending in an anticlimactic way. Gary said "Please, lets hope the blog ends anticlimactically" I just laughed and continued reading to him from "CHESAPEAKE" a book we both highly recommend. We have one more night and we'll spend it here in Old Saybrook. We're rocking gently back and forth due to the wake of fishing boats going home late. It could also be the fact that we're basically anchored in the stinkin ocean!!! but I digress.... Brittany is down below giggling on the phone with friends. I hope that the seed we've planted in Brittany will make her thirst for adventure, never accept the status quo, ...to think outside the box and have the confidence to go after the passions in her life. Until tomorrow...........

To Bill and Leona..on Voyageur C......Welcome home (they made it home Wed the 14th-at last)
our turn next................

Keep us in your prayers, your in ours
