May 9th Tuesday: leaving OSPREY-on to Calabash Creek

First off we'd like to say that this was an AMAZING stop and look forward to returning.
Tight squeeze gettin the Victoria in the slip
Coffee clutch at the Veritas
Brittany scramblin for her laundry
The Good morning roof alarm
Shadow, lives on a boat here and is quite friendly and anxious to greet everyone,
then runs down the dock back to his house
*not neccessarily in that order :)
* note: these pics are now with the right post
We all slept like logs. The intention was to sleep in till maybe 8"0clock. That was not to be however. Local builders had a roof to get finished and they thought the best time to start was 6:35am. Grrrr..........SO I got up and took Eddie for a nice long hour walk. I figured that when I got back I'd have breakfast with everyone at the grill and then walk with France, then get in one more shower. All that happened too. We even topped off the tanks with gas that cost us 3.06!! a gallon!!
We meandered out, plenty of time to catch the bridge opening at 11:45. Gary and Brittany are uptop and Gary suggests to Brittany that she get a sweatshirt on. She walks down the stairs, looks at me and grabs the hair on both sides of her head shreaking............."I left all my clothes in the dryer!!!! " Gary heard and mumbled something as he let Veritas know on the radio that we'd be turning around and we'd have to catch up with them later. As we brought the Victoria to as much of a neutral stance as we could in the prevailing current, Gary lowered the dinghy and sent Brittany up the channel to the marina. We could just make her out as she hit the dock. She left the dock tender holding the line as she hurried up the dock to the laundry room. Seconds later she scurried down the dock, took the line from the guy and left em all laughing as she went. Between turning around and waiting for her return we did miss the 11:45 bridge but made the 12:15 no problem. I thanked them both for their support and their blog material contribution.
It's not the situations we get into that's important, it's the way we handle them that is.
Sounds like this cold snap has us laying up in Wrightsville to provision...... then on to Oriental.
We'll keep you "posted".
Keep us in your prayers, your in ours
