We left Long boat Key this am about 9. Its 11:07 and I just finished "The Pilots Wife" by Anita Shreve. It's a "Chick novel" from the Oprah's Book Club collection. It held my attention until the last stupid sentence. By the way if you get a book to the level of publishing shouldn't someone proof read it first? You know, make sure there aren't any fragment sentences, maintain continuity and the flow, that sort of thing. Anyway, now that we are officially underway reading has resumed. Gary drives and Brittany does school work from the bridge, and both take care of the navigation typically. I blog, read, tan, eat, secure flying objects, take pictures, clean etc.
We are stopping in Venice for fuel shortly. I've moved everything away from the gas ports so we are ready to fuel up. its 12:10 ....the fuel bill..318.00 thats with a 7% break because we stuffed 100 gallons in. All the water bottles and tanks are full again too. We are back underway ....its 1:11.
We traveled to Mile 23.1 , Punta Blanca(White Point) Island and anchored "med style", stern tied to the mangroves. The anchorage mentioned in Skipper Bob's was loaded and exposed to the wind. Gary inspected the other side of the island that was protected from the wind and anchored there. Its beautiful. Similar to Brook Shields in "Blue Lagoon", Brittany immediately upon getting properly anchored donned her swim gear and snorkeled all over, talking through her snorkel the whole time. Saying things like, "Oh, this is awesome!, How cool is this, this is soooo cool!" Gary and I sat in the dinghy and he pulled us to the shore to explore. As Gary and I walked and explored the shoreline, Brittany followed under water and Eddie raced up and down the beach barking. At one point we played the "I'm gonna get Brittany" game. Only I was in 3 feet of water. Eddie started barking and ran in the water at us. Eventually he ran out of land and started swimming at me. Very funny. For those of you that don't know, Eddie hates being in water where he can't touch the bottom. We're very proud of him. A very brave boy. All up and down the beach Gary and I noticed big holes in the sand , like someone was digging and two toed footprints, similar to a deer. There were also numerous piles of dung covered in sand. Little round pellet type dung. A bit of a mystery. Once we got back to the boat we started dinner, cleaning up, getting jammies on etc. All of a sudden Eddie starts barking this really mean serious bark. We look around and noone is in sight. Then out of the corner of Brittanys eye she spots movement. There on the shore coming out of the mangroves are two huge black pigs. They appeared docile and curious, with sand stuck to their noses and their ears huge and alert. They just kept looking at the boat. I decided to get rid of some aging fruit and asked Gary to throw it for me. What a shot! The pigs scrambled to get the half pear pieces. Sand wasn't a problem. They ate all of it. One piece landed a little short in the water. The one pig with the 4 white feet started walking into the water, but wouldn't go in enough to get it. Guess they'll have to wait till the tide brings it in to them.
We're gonna eat......its 8:17........I'll be back with pics later.
