January 5th Thursday- The new window is IN ! ! !
Yesterday Gary took out the remnants of our damaged window. A picture is forthcoming. Then he replaced it with a piece of Plexiglass. We brought the 8 foot long pc down with us from RI sticking out of the trunk. We did it that way because Gary has all the connections for stuff up north.
It was quite a job. First he removed all the remaining shards of glass. I rode around the marina looking for boxes to put it in. Then we disposed of it in the local dumpster.
Then we took a drive looking for a lumber yard. Everyone we asked didn't know what to tell us.
Things are done a little differently down here. No one has even heard of marine consignment.
Gary then cut out the wood window frame and disposed of that. It was all crappy Pine, and saturated with water. Then he cut and fit the new "glass" into the window and replaced the wood. He did a pretty good job keeping the saw dust and mess down to a minimum too!! I was pleasantly surprised. Today Gary put the finishing touches on the new window. It looks
beautiful, and all for about 120.00 bucks. You can't even tell that it was ever broken.
Today we also pumped out the holding tank. We also have a little refrigerator that has made life a little more civilized. I dropped off a pair of sandals at the free library here at the marina that don't fit and picked up a T-shirt to cover little Edwards pillow. It happens to be a "Big Dogs" brand T shirt which is appropriate because Eddie thinks he is one.
Yesterday was glorious and warm about 71 degrees. I got in the hot tub finally and soaked a bit then dried in the sun. Today was much of the same only more clouds. My Mom popped by and we went shopping together and shared a couple of laughs. I rode my bike to "Albertsons" the local market and picked up a few things. Then I took my new friend "Cat" to the market in the car and we picked up a few things then too. Cat has lived here for 12 years on her boat. Her Hubby Jim has a job that requires travel and he feels comfortable leaving her in a secure environment, with the locked gates and all. Their boat is a 43 foot Pacemaker or Chris craft. Jim is a master wood worker and the inside is beautiful and quite roomy. Their little dog Cocoa is a very friendly shi tzu who doesn't "do" stairs. So if you throw his stuffed bone around and it goes down the stairs, he stands their and lets you know he needs help. Very cute.
Brittany is with Amanda,Wayne and the girls in PA just having a ball.
