Up to Thursday 11-17-05 A FROST ADVISORY !!!

1st) a dolphin feeding in the marina in the early morning
2nd) The "Red Dog" barreling down on us......thankfully he slowed down & gave us a slow pass
Wednesday,
I got up before everyone and decided to take Hairy boy for a walk down the dock. It was a beautiful morning and all was quiet. Then on the farthest dock, I heard it. It sounded like the noise that happens when you push water through a snorkel. Eddie's ears perked up as he realized I was alert to "something". Then, there is was again! Then the coolest thing happened. Two dolphin that were feeding in the marina started coming toward me. Just a slow repeated puuuuush sound just before they disapearred under the glass like surface, over and over again. I watched for a while , maybe 10 minutes, then they started chasing these brightly colored needle fish real close to the dock, in my direction. Eddie only looked when they came up for air.
These docks are made out of concrete and are located in a pretty busy place. The current is tremendous and constant. The Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina is an exceptional facility. However the management of it is sketchy at best. One redeeming person was Murray, the first dock hand we came across and who also pumped $345.oo into the fuel tank. Unfortunately he left at 3:30 and we won't see him till possibly tomorrow. But I digress, so I'm walking Eddie down the dock and I hear
Many boaters went into town on the 10 o'clock shuttle to hit the market. I didn't go. I shouls have. We are out of bread and tea. That's not to bad but they didn't go to just any market. They drove them to a "Whole Foods Market". Darn it.
We caught the 12 o'clock shuttle to hit the Charleston Flea market and walking tour. Among the things pointed out were these small cellar windows. Where slaves had once been kept. I felt very sensitive to the suffering that went on there. A very sad part of our history indeed. When
we got back it was getting late (6:45) and no one had eaten. Leona had mentioned eating together so I made a double portion of rice and added a cut up chicken breast. Leona baked chicken parts and steamed some broccoli. She also baked a cake in celebration of Bill's birthday....which was a couple of days ago now. Just no time.
You'd think we have all the time in the world! But all day is spent navigating, preparing food underway, doing the blog, cleaning, etc. By the time you pull into an anchorage or marina your exhausted and there is still more to do. If your at a marina you have access to electricity and fresh water, so the tanks have to be topped off, You have to connect the boat with the shore power cord , and then plug everything in that needs to be charged that you don't have a cig lighter charger for. You also have to get rid of the trash, which piles up fast. If your at an anchorage you have to pick an appropriate spot, Gary goes out while either BT or I are driving and he drops the anchor. Then he has to make sure that it grabs. Then there is washing the windows for the next day, then the window covers have to be snapped on etc etc etc. Then our favorite part , the socializing. and then everyone goes to bed by like 7 , 7:30 . Only to get up at the break of dawn to do it all over again. Aside from all that, it's a very addicting lifestyle.
Thursday:
Holy cow... I got up in the middle of the night and broke out my little wooly cap, long sleeve T shirt and then doubled up on the blankets. There is a Frost warning in effect for this whole area! ! ! Yesterday I was in a bathing suit relaxing in the hot tub, and today I'm back to 5 layers and I'm contemplating another. This really stinks. Leona and I are not happy about this.
