Special Addition- Help Save the Dismal Swamp Canal

(excerpt from a letter: the Dismal Swamp Canal Welcome Center)

Dear Friend of the Dismal Swamp Canal

For the 2nd year in a row, money was appropriated in the 2006 fiscal year budget for water control only ~but none for operation and maintenance of the historic Dismal Swamp Canal. On a visit to Washington earlier this year, we were told over and over the "squeaky wheel gets heard." Therefore, we have to repeat what we successfully did last year...mount a "grass roots" campaign to Save our waterway.

Brittany asks you to Please help:

1.Contact your Congressmen: "As a strong advocate of the Dismal Swamp Canal, I urge you to support funding of $850,000.00 in appropriations for FY 2005-2006 for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, Norfolk District, for continued operation as part of the AIWW."

2. Because of our location in the Norfolk District, US Army Corps of Engineers, contact the Virginia & North Carolina Congressional Representatives with the same request:
