Monday 11-14-05 Leaving Barefoot Landing SC

This 1st picture is the "Frolic II" in SC, about to wake the heck out of us.
The 2nd pic . is Jean Marc, Shane, and Gary

Good morning everyone. We had a great night last night visiting with Shane in N. Myrtle Beach SC. Shane was a great host and picked us up in his Jeep. For those who are interested , YES he has doors on his Jeep. Someone who we are sure needed them more than Shane did, took his Jeep doors, his CD player, and his gym bag with his coveted Rugby hat from Loyolla, where he attended University. :-) Shane has since replaced the doors , just yesterday. However the CD player may take longer and the hat may be irreplaceable. He took us all over to his favorite spots and pointed out where he's working, jogging, etc. First we went out for a bite at the Liberty Steakhouse & Brewery. The beer was good and the appetisers were plentiful in there portions. Well worth the $3.50 a plate, and that price is only good during Happy Hour.
After eating we walked around this huge mall all decorated for ..............Christmas! What the heck is the rush, for crying out loud! Oh right, no real cash rewards for Thanksgiving. Bright lights and a perfectly cone shaped Christmas tree, about 40 feet high, commanded your attention in the center of things. If that wasn't enough the lights on the tree were in time with Karen Carpenter singing a timeless classic of one sort or another. While we walked there were bridges to cross, and Koi and ducks to feed for only a buck a handful of pellets. It started gettin late (8:00) so we headed out to the market that was on the way, but first a tour of Shane's house. It's a lovely ranch in a pretty neighborhood. As you walk in the front hall the warm colors of butterscotch welcome you into the great room. A charming fireplace gives the room a warm cozy feel. There is a nice space in the kitchen and assorted bedrooms. Shane's room was the neatest that I saw, I was impressed. I had forgotten my camera but Shane gave me his and so as soon as he get's his computer deghosted we'll have those pics available. We went to the market then and provisioned up and saved with Shanes' Kroger (the name of the market) card.
Then back to the boat. When we got there, Jean Marc (who was exhausted from navigating all day by himself) stopped by and a quick hand shake and a promise to get together tomorrow ended the evening.

We were rafted up to the 34 ft trawler "Nomad" and they wanted to get going early this morning. They changed their mind , and we figured that out when we were up before them. SO, That didn't happen as early as we expected but we were up and underway in no time. Brittany made pancakes and they were very good.

We are headed to Georgetown SC. Shane will meet up with us there tonight.
Change of plans, after checking out Georgetown we decided to keep going. The anchorage there was pretty tight and we wanted to keep the team together. There wouldn't be enough room for all. We've contacted Shane and Hank, told them of our situation , and so we'll possibly make plans on the way back in the spring. Hank was Gary and Roy's boss when they were kids at the carpet store in Franklin Square, NY. That would've been neat after all these years. Too bad Shane and Jean marc didn't have time to hang out a little. That would've been fun.

We are anchoring at Minim Creek. It's Bill's pre Birthday party tonight!! Pics to follow.

PS: The washing machine bit the dust ..........so now we have a new washer at the house. :\
