Headed toward Charleston NC for the night 11-15

Pic: Our view this am in Minim Creek anchorage
At two o'clock this am I was startled awake by a loud crash. Seem's Misty wanted an early morning feeding so she broke into the food cabinet, lost her balance on top of the Tostitos and the Classico pasta sauce, chewed through the double zip lock bags and then promptly fell out of the cabinet along with several cans of assorted veggies. The meds I'm taking only last 4 hours. Long enough for me to get to sleep, and I can't take any more. So Seeing as how we went to bed at like 9, I was out of luck. Everyone (almost) settled back down and went back to sleep. Keep in mind that we are anchored in a creek. The nats were so aggressive while we sat out that I actually sprayed myself and eventually everyone else with "OFF". Well while we were sleeping it rained, yes and the mosquitoes came out in force. The screens helped, but these buggers stuck there arm in the screen and showed their ID before entering. It was so quiet I could hear my eyes blink. All accept for zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz in my left ear then zzzzzzzzzzzz in my right. At one point I thought Jean Marc had set an alarm for Opera music to go off. No kidding. These Mosq's(that's what we call em out here in the bush) were SO loud ....and sneaky too. I started reading with my little blue flashlight so as not to disturb Gary. I digress a minue here...I'm reading a book Kim from Amanzi lent me called "The Constant Gardener" by John Le Carre. A murder mystery that takes place over in Africa. Not my typical choice and some of the language is a bit rough, but otherwise very interesting. Anyway, I'm reading and I spot a mosq on the ceiling so I take the little blue flash light and quietly try to squash him with it. I swear he lifted the flashlight up off him, gave me a dirty look and fly over to Gary's side of the boat. I went back to reading until my eyes started to fade, then discovered that my batteries were giving up. I laid there in the dark listening to Gary snore.
Some random thughts:
When Brittany and I walked into the library in Beaufort NC we noticed a sign on the library door that read "Concealed firearms are not allowed in the library unless you are authorized personnel."
I never knew Coumarins perched in trees..... by the hundreds(SC)
also in SC: We saw our first "CAUTION" DO NOT FEED THE ALLIGATORS sign....it happened to be an open pond right across the street from where the boat was rafted up at Barefoot landing. While walking Eddie I saw where the gator likes to drag him/her self up along the shoreline. Eddie refused to go swimming
While in RI I trained Eddie to sound off if he see's a snake (usually the garden variety)."Eddie where's the snake" It got him some excercise and he loves to bark...so there you go. Eddie of course took it to the next level and started grabbing the snake and shaking it to death. Well in the south ......snakes are bigger and poisonous.
UPDATE on military family we met Veterans Day Weekend. Good News: On their way to dinner the other night Chris received a call from his boss telling him that his orders were cancelled and he is staying home. Bad News : Right after that call, Chris's Dad called from Florida. After Chris told his Dad the news, his Dad informed Chris that Chris's cousin, a Marine, lost his life over there last week. Chris's Dad did not want to tell Chris while Chris was over there. So sad. Take care .......the Bum's
Chris: Congratulations on being home for the birth of your daughter , and our heartfelt condolances for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
We're sure everyone that this blog reaches shares similar feelings. God Bless.
