Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. We woke up to a gorgeous chilly day. On the "road" by 8:00-anchors up. While motoring I wrote up some post cards, mended a sleeping bag while watching "Regis and Kelly" and the "Backstreet Boys". Brittany has just started a Dean Koontz novel "Winter Moon". Our oldest daughter Amanda, collects Dean Koontz and loves the stories.
Brittany seems to pick the most difficult time to shower. We're underway and its blowin 25 knots.Gary suggested that she not shower when we are underway anymore, maybe we'll have calmer weather. :-)
Oh, Yesterday I decided to color my hair for the first time on the boat. My timing was off because we were about 10 minutes from anchoring. However it worked out ok. I applied it in the bathroom, and waked back and forth with my handy pink plastic bucket. Rinsing took place overboard with the deck washdown hose. So it was a COLD seawater rinse which I folloed up quickly with a warm/hot fresh water rinse. Considering the whole thanksgiving occassion I chose Natural Instincts # 13B called Spiced Cider :-). So as you can see I am now gorgeous and ready for any festivities.
For breakfast we had corned beef hash with an egg and cheese in a sandwich. We snacked on graham crackers and peanut butter for lunch. It's 2:44 and we have about an hour and a half before we reach our evening anchorage. We'll stop around 4 ish.
Rob and Terri are about 10 miles ahead of us, they left their marina at like 5. Bill and Leona and the crew from the Sea Holly are about 10 miles behind us. It feels like a long day for all of us but we can take a break from being in the wind. Driving a sailboat puts you outside in the elements all day, that's gotta be tough. Although today is windy but otherwise quite pleasant.
While motoring today we looked back and there was a small sail boat behind us about 500 yds. Behind him was a big power boat with a bigger wake. He blasted past the sail boat and Gary got on the radio suggesting,"I'll slow down capt. and you can have our port side". The guy slowed and went past. He prematurely gunned it and we got thrown around a little, but we were fine. Well the little sail boat gets on the radio yelling , "Why couldn't you slow down for us as well!" The power boat blasted off into the afternoon sun. The little sailboat gets on the radio and hails us,"Victoria,Victoria it is a good thing he didn't buy an airplane." Gary responded," If it was Christmas instead of Thanksgiving, I'd have thought he got it under the tree!" Gary chuckled about that on and off all day.
