Thursday 10/13/05

Greetings from Cape May NJ.............still
We woke up to a gorgeous, windy, damp, mostly rainy day here at Utsch's Marina. On the positive side the people who run the Marina have been wonderful. Our basic needs now that we live on the boat are hot showers, laundry, mail and groceries. All of which are easily accessible here. Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Utsch's himself. He was sitting quietly on the side of the counter. He and his Dad started the marina many years ago. His very capable sons Charles and Ernest run the marina now as Mr Ernest Utsch is retired. A well deserved privlege seeing as how he's now 82! He proudly mentioned that his kids take good care of him now.

Our little 5 inch TV is not cable ready (I'll tie this in momentarily). One of the very helpful dock hands found out we had a teenager on board and offered a 25 foot cable to attach the TV. Well, I needed an attachment thingy. Anyway, I was returning the 25 foot cord because we couldn't use it. When POPS- Mr Utsch's, heard of my delemma and offered to drive me to the local hardware store. While driving back from the store he took an unscheduled turn. That's when my personal history tour of Cape May started. It was wonderful.
Some of the houses we saw are on this post, as well as a picture he was kind enough to pose for. Still handsome after all these years, doesn't look a day over 70. A real sweetie.

Well it's calmer now ..........it's only blowing like H E double toothpicks. "Howling" and "blowing a gale" are terms we only use intermittenly now.

Today was productive regardless of the weather. We found a little project for Gary to work on, because we're all getting a little cabin feverish. Yes........he had to find where the water was coming in from. His bedding is soaked. He very cleverly utilized duck tape and paper towels to channel the drip , drip, drip away from his sleeping area. After taking care of that little challenge , we walked over to dry out the sheets and the sleeping bag. Our neighbors David and Kim on the "Amanzi" ,were there doing there laundry and we had a nice chat. They have a very interesting website and you can visit it at : floatingclassroom.com Especially you Barbara (our own in house Middle School Teacher).

Jack from "Heaven Sent" stopped by and generously shared his wine with us. While he visited we discussed the fact that it's not as easy as it may look, going south on your boat that is. He's gonna try going for it in the AM. He'll let us know what he's up against. He has to get the other couple that he's traveling with to a specific spot to catch a flight. Godspeed Jack, it was a pleasure.

Remember: You are not in charge , God and the weather is.

Note: Wet dog? rub em down with a dryer sheet. They smell pretty, and no static cling!

All in all, in a nutshell.............the weather stinks..........but we're in great company.

Your in our prayers, keep us in yours
