The Thompson Trip

Monday into Tuesday the 25th of October

We are South of Annapolis in Spa
creek. We're moored way up this
creek and there is a condo that we
could throw a rock at... so we are
VERY protected.

Yesterday, Kim, Leona and myself
started off with the intention
of catching a bus
and going food shopping. This
bus driver wouldn't pull over(we have no idea what her prob was)
While we were waiting we started fooling around and Kim stuck
her
thumb out asking for a ride. It only took a few minutes till a
young man pulled over and the three
of us piled in. He drove us
all over till we found the food market. Great guy with NY plates.

He had his girlfriends car and didn't mind using her gas. He said
we only interrupted his job search.
So he had nothing else going on. We were thankful. We grabbed an
unfriendly cab for the ride home.

Last night we went to another boat and watched
"March of the Penguins" with two other couples, and Brittany.
Then in the pouring rain, we got into the dinghy and motored
over to our boat about 25 feet away, turned on the
heater to take the chill off and went nighty night.
When you don't hear from me on the blog it's cause
we are at a mooring and have no shore power. Gary is very
consciencious(sp?)
of other neighboring boators being bothered by the sound of the
generator.
We woke up this morning about quarter to nine. Yes you heard right. Well it was raining and cold so we just prolonged the inevitable. After rising, we headed into town. First we roused all our neighbors and recruited them to join us. Brittany wanted to stay aboard and do school work (?). Hmmm guess she's serious about her goal of going to the Academy. A great goal. Only $260,000. But if you qualify..............they pay it. Woo Hoo that's what I'm talking about. Anyway........ We walked in the raw, pouring rain and hardly noticed with all the talking and fooling around. I had on just about everything I own, along with a pair of Jahn Marcs purple plastic pants. I looked like I just got done shopping out of my Portuguese closet, but I didn't care......keep me dry and warm. It feels like winter here and it was quite ugly today. They have .75 cent bus rides here. After checking the mail (none yet) we all hopped on a bus and got off at a Marine Consignment store. There was also a Good Will Superstore on the corner and we did a little shopping there as well. The Crab Cake House has delicious resonable food and that's where we ate lunch and warmed up.

While we were waiting for a return bus, Kim started foolin around and stuck her thumb out. Well it wasn't long before this guy pulls over and we all (6 of us) stuff into his four door sedan. It must have looked like a college stunt. I was on Gary's lap in the front seat with my knees jammed into the dash. Leona, Bill, and David were in the back seat and Kim laid across them. We really had a good time introducing ourselves and chattin. Great guy, God bless him, the busses are quite unreliable, he took us right to the Harbormaster building we're we take showers. We all threw money at him and he was tickled that he had some beer money.
Leona(retired boat inspector-Canada) and I stayed in town and showered. Kim(school teacher) and David (photo journalist) went to the internet cafe, and Gary and Bill went on an errand. After Gary showered and put on his new attire (green windbreaker pants from the Good will) we headed back to the boat for cozy time . We are waiting for the mail and the weather before we head out to the Solomon Island's. Hopefully Wednesday or probably Thursday.

Jean Marc is having his starter rebuilt and he's waiting on that.

Friends of ours, Peter and Edie from Jamestown are gonna try to leave on Saturday from RI and take their catamaran to FL. Please pray for their safety and success.
