Friday-updated 11:32PM

Good Morning everyone
I got up about 6 and it was still very gray and overcast. I sat up and put the head phones on so as not to disturb anyone and connected them to the laptop. If you cut and paste the address below you too can
listen to a couple of Frank Sinatra's tunes. "Rain drops keep falling on my head" and "Come Rain
or Come Shine" are the theme songs for the day/week. The wind was "vigorous" last night to say the least and so was the rain. This morning it's pretty tame out, considering.

Listed below is our weather window: Its looking like Monday

"Karma" is giving it a go this morning. It's quarter of 8. This is a great guy who's been doing this trip for twenty years. There are also two capable women who assist while he drives. The Karma is a boat with alot of power. With winds 10-15 knots and seas 4-6 feet, they'll need that combination this morning.

The "Karma' has returned. I give em alot of credit for trying. This weather is down right ugly.

Kim and David came on the boat for a talk about the weather. We had a cup of tea and we chatted quite a while. Then Gary helped Kim hoist David up the mast. That's him at the top of their mast. Their anchor light is broken. Today we found out that David is from S. Africa and they are both now Canadians. Amanzi (the name of the boat)is Zulu for water. They have two (2) cats onboard, brother and sister. Billy Bob Thornton, he's a little stand offish, mostly white with tan markings & Buddy(female-pictured-originally thought to be a boy) is quite the flirt. Hence the picture of her trying to get Gary's attention. She settled for Brittany and was very appreciative of the belly rub, which Kim said was very unusual. We lent David/Kim our copy of "The Wreck of the Mary Dear" by Hammond Innes. Great book. Tonight we'll be sampling Kims FAMOUS chick pea curry from the pressure cooker.

"OH, my GOSH WHAT"S THAT?" an explosion on the Amanzi! ! I jump up and Gary runs for the fire extinguisher....."I hop on board and start yelling "Kim!! KIM!!!" No answer.......Black smoke is billowing from out the back of the boat. I still can't see anyone. Gary is behind me now and here comes Kim running from the showers. As the smoke clears I can see now noone is on board. Thank goodness. The cats are hiding. Looks like chick pea curry massacre. It's everywhere, including the stern, the ceiling and splash marks out the port holes. What a mess.
Nothing ruffles Kim though. "Ya know, I was saying to myself that I shouldn't leave this unattended" she states calmly. Then she says, "Oh I'll have this cleaned up in about an hour." Be sure to go ask the French guy to join us!!
There is a sail boat here that is going in the same general direction as we are. I officially met Jean Marc (our French Canadian neighbor) tonight, but earlier I went and knocked on his boat (the "Magali")and at Kim's suggestion invited him to dine with us tonight on the Amanzi. He filled us in on the status of his stepson Jean Phillipe. He's is very ill with what is probably hepatitis. Please pray for a full recovery for the poor guy.. Jean Marc put him on a plane and sent him home for a doctors care, he will now continue single handed. After meeting him tonight, I'm sure he can do it.
Appetisers started off with our cheese and crackers, and Jean Marc's Duck Pate on crispy, salted frenchy crackers. Jean Marc also brought a lovely delectable salad. Discussions of equipment, weather, and life went into the night (well 10:15 is late!!). Another great day in Cape May. Everyone is duely impressed with Brittany's social skills, participation in conversation, and ability to hold her own in a predominately adult atmosphere. We couldn't agree more.
