Friday pics-Lighthouse
Pictured below from right to left: Keeping in mind that these rooms were small, they are set up in an octagon shape, and there was a family of seven living here.
1) dining room with small round table and 4 chairs
2) master bedroom, if the bed looks short, thats cuz it izzzz
3) the other side of the dining room had this stove in it
4) one of two huge water tanks, 250 gallons a pc
5) double click this one and read some interesting info
6) Anna Weems Ewalt was born in the lighthouse. Many years later after she married
an influencial politician, she declared her birthplace a historical landmark, raised the money and had it moved(in one piece) and included it in the Drum Point museum (which she started). Another point of interest was that when the welders started cutting the "legs" of the lighthouse they discovered that the legs were solid iron, not hollow. The unusual design of the lighthouse was the perfect application for the soft muddy bottom. The bell can no longer be rung (you used to be able to hear it for 13 miles) because when the people in charge anchored it in its new location, they used concrete. So now, if you ring the bell (they only did it once) the vibration runs back up the legs of the lighthouse and rattles the timbers really bad. It's made of wood and iron, so not a good thing.
